About a hundred years ago a legend he was born.
From Texas to the northern point he traveled through the corn.
Were many days and many miles staying out of sight,
until he met an Indian wandering through the night?
He said “come sit around my fire and have yourself a smoke”.
Well summon down the afterlife he thought it was a joke.
Into the dark and still of night they stood upon the grave,
for the army of the dead unite it’s time now to be brave.
First he started chanting in some language never heard.
He raised his hands up in the air as if calling to the birds.
The fire started spinning shooting ambers at their heads.
The forest started moving man they both thought they’d be dead.
They ran down through the woods and trees and came upon a field.
There before their very eyes they didn’t think was real.
The Indian got to the ground and he pulled upon his gun,
for the village burst up into flames the battle just begun.
With a cry they made their way attacking with all might.
The battle went for hours lasting through the night.
When morning came the morning stopped two hundred men were slain,
but Billy was the only horse around who still remained.
He went down to the Indian and found him still alive,
he handed bill his sack of herbs and handed bill his pipe.
They smoked for all the spirits that were helping them that day.
For the ones who lived to tell the tale they proved they would be brave.
